MUNCIE, IN (NewsLink Indiana) -- The weather has been more spring-like the past couple of days, and we say plenty of sunshine today. However that is going to chance tomorrow. Storms are going to begin rolling in during the early morning and remain scattered throughout the day. There is the chance for a few storms to turn severe, so we will continue to keep an eye on the system. The temperature will climb up into the mid 60s. Friday we will see a break in the rain during the early morning, but it will return early afternoon. The rain should clear out by the evening on Friday and that will lead into clearer skies on Saturday. Temperatures will drop to more normal for this time of year (into the mid 50s) and the sunshine will return. Sunday and into next week we will see multiple systems move through. So rain chances will be high by the start of the work week, but temperatures will climb back into the low 60s.

MUNCIE, IN (NewsLink Indiana) -- Warm temperatures are going to hang around for another 2 days as it seems records continue to fall around the country as many places are breaking their records for high temperatures. Friday we will reach 70 degrees, but there is an enhanced risk for severe storms. The primary threat as of right now is damaging winds, but the chances for severe hail and an isolated tornado are increasing slightly as we get closer to the day. Saturday temperatures will drop enough to where we will see some snow mixing in with some rain on Saturday as the high won't even make it out of the low 40s. Sunday seems to be the pick of the 7 days as we will see a bit of sunshine return to the forecast, but more seasonal temperatures. So if you are headed out on Sunday, you will need to take the coast with you. Monday through Wednesday we will remain pretty wet as we have some good rain chances beginning on Monday night and persisting through Wednesday. Fortunately though temperatures will begin to climb up to the mid 50s. For all of your weather updates make sure to follow us on Twitter @NLIWeather.

MUNCIE, IN (Newslink Indiana) -- For what seems like the first time in this calendar year we actually saw some measurable snowfall throughout the day on Wednesday. Most places around the Muncie area saw anywhere from 1-3 inches of snowfall, which made the roads a bit slushy. This is going to be cause for concern during the overnight and morning hours as it will make commuting to work or school a bit tricky, so give yourself some extra time to get where you need to be. Friday we will see some sunshine return with temperatures beginning to work their way up in to the upper 40s. Weekend temperatures will hangout in the upper 50s, but there is a 70% chance of rain on Sunday. Monday we will see sunshine return to the forecast as temperatures begin to drop a bit. Tuesday will be a pleasant Valentine's day with the high temperature being in the upper 40s, light winds, and plenty of sunshine. Wednesday temperatures will drop to around 37 degrees with a bit more cloud cover working its way back in ahead of our next rain chance later into next week.

Temperatures for the past several days have been above average for this time of year, but cooler temperatures are on the way. Tomorrow the cloud cover is going to stick around for most of the day with a few peeks of sunshine throughout the day, but temperatures are going to drop 10-15 degrees overnight. The high temperature for tomorrow will be around 40 degrees. There is the slight chance for a few snow flurries to creep into northwestern Grant county, but it will not amount to much. Temperatures throughout the day on Friday and Saturday will remain in the lower 40s, but a bit more sunshine will return for Saturday. Sunday is the best chance for snow in the next 7-days. Accumulation won't amount to much early on Sunday and will transition from Snow to a more rain/snow mix throughout the late morning and early afternoon, with a rain chance Late afternoon. Overnight on Sunday and into Monday morning there is another chance for rain/snow mix, with more rain than snow. Temperatures Monday through Wednesday are going to begin to climb through the upper 40s and into the lower 50s on Wednesday, but a slight rain chance returns for the middle of next week. Muncie, IN (NewsLink Indiana) --Hopefully everyone enjoyed the sunshine today, but if you didn't there is plenty more to come in the next few days. High temperatures for this time of year normally hover around the low to mid 50s, and at least for a few days in the forecast, we will see that. Tomorrow high pressure is going to stick around, we will see sunny skies and a high temperature near 63 degrees. Early morning on Friday though we are going to see a cold front move through, and as it does, that is going to bring cooler temperatures and a few more clouds, but still plenty of sunshine. Saturday and Sunday high temperatures will be possibly the coolest of the year so far, but we will still have clear and sunny skies. Overnight for both of those nights it is anticipated we will see widespread frost throughout the area, so on the off-chance there is still some people who have plants outside, need to have the covered or bring them inside to prevent damage. Temperatures are going to begin to climb slightly into early next week, with a slight chance for rain during the overnight hours. Temperatures are going to work their way up into the upper 50s.

MUNCIE, IN (Newslink Indiana) -- Weather seems like it has finally made the transition over to fall. This time two weeks ago high temperatures were in the mid-to-upper 70s and today they were nice and crisp with some breezy winds. However, the higher temperatures are going to return. Overnight tonight we are going to see some rain showers and hear a few rumbles of thunder. For the most part though, the rain should be gone by noon tomorrow. Temperatures won't make it past 56 degrees for a high temperature. Friday and Saturday the sunshine will return to the forecast and temperatures will climb up into the upper 60s and up to 73 on Saturday. Rain returns for your Sunday, but for your Halloween, temperatures will be eerily warm with a high of 74 degrees. The 7-day is rounded off by a pair of days with mixed sun and clouds. and temperatures will return to the upper 60s. For further weather coverage, be sure to follow us on twitter @NLIWeather!

MUNCIE, IN (NewsLink Indiana) -- Temperatures for the week have been above average for this time of year, and that is going to stick around for a few more days. Unfortunately for us, the end of the work week is bringing a slight rain chance for us here in Muncie. Friday night a cold front is going to work its way through out area, and with that colder temperatures are in store for the weekend and most of fall break. That rain chance is going to linger into Saturday morning, but the skies will clear up on Saturday, and we will see plenty of sunshine on Sunday. The weekend high temperatures are expected to be in the mid 60s with lows creeping down into the upper 40s. The sunshine sticks around for Monday and temperatures will begin to climb. Tuesday we will see a 20% chance of rain, but high temperatures will be in the low 70s, and will hang around there through Tuesday and into Wednesday. Muncie, IN (NewsLink Indiana) -- This week is going to see unstable conditions throughout the area. Today is one of the few days this week when we will see some sunshine, but low pressure system will begin to make its way through east central Indiana overnight. With the passage of the cold front associated with the low pressure system, along with convective heating at night, is going to provide us with a chance for some thunderstorms tonight. Tuesday that rain chance will hang around as the cold front passes through, but chances for more thunderstorms will increase as the day progresses. Wednesday another low pressure system begins to approach us, and with it comes the best chance for heavy rain, where we could pick up anywhere from 0.25 to 0.5 inches of rain. Wednesday night, thunderstorms are again possible, and this chance for rain and thunderstorms will continue into Thursday. Thursday the low pressure system should move through completely, and we will have high pressure for a brief period on Friday. This means clouds will clear out and the sunshine will return! Unfortunately, the chance for rain returns on Saturday afternoon. Temperatures will start to fall and the best chance for significant rainfall will occur on Sunday and will carry into next week. Here in Muncie yesterday we reached a high of 81 degrees, which is 19 degrees above average for this time of year. The summer-like temperatures are going to stick around for one more day before we see a cool down. Monday you can expect a high of 80 degrees. Tuesday we will drop to 74 degrees as cloud cover begins to move in throughout the day. This increasing cloud cover is ahead of our next rain chance, which is expected to occur late on Wednesday evening. Thursday is the best chance for significant rainfall as a low pressure system out of the southwest begins to make it’s way into out area. This rain chance is going to linger into Friday as temperatures will only make it to near 65 degrees, but you can expect a warm up as temperatures make it back up into the lower 70s for the weekend. As high pressure builds in the area, skies are going to be
clear and temperatures are going to be moderate. Expect warmer days
throughout the week and cooler nights, which is typical while an area is
influenced by high pressure. This is due to a lack of clouds, which
block some of the sun’s rays from coming in during the day and
re-emitting radiant energy put out by the earth due to the daytime
heating back to the surface at night. Thanks to a northerly shift in the jet
stream and a large ridge forming over our area, warm, southern air is
moving into our area and high temperatures will get progressively higher
as we approach Sunday. A few clouds will return to the forecast on Monday, but we will still see plenty of sunshine for the first half of next week. Thursday night is the next chance for some precipitation as we track a low pressure system predicted to move in from the west. The best chance for rain is Friday and Saturday of next week. MUNCIE, IN (NewsLink Indiana) -- We have had a rainy start to the work/school week. As of 10am we officially picked up 0.64 inches of rain since 5 pm yesterday. The rain is going to continue throughout most of the day today, and at sometimes it will be heavy. By the time 5pm Monday rolls around, we can expect closer to an inch of rain accumulation. There is the slight chance for a few rumbles of thunder in the afternoon, but we do not expect any severe weather. Overnight on Monday skies will start to clear a bit as high pressure starts to build in the area. This high pressure is going to be the theme for the entire week as spring like weather returns to the forecast. A ridge in the jet stream is going to allow for warm, southern area to make it’s way into our area. Throughout the entire week temperatures are going to climb from 50 on Tuesday to a high of 67 on Friday. As we make our way into the weekend, high temperatures will surpass 70 degrees and clear skies will continue. For more weather updates, make sure to follow us on Twitter @NLIWeather.

MUNCIE, IN (NewsLink Indiana) -- Over the past several days, we have seen what seemed like low pressure system after low pressure system move through our area. These clipper systems are known to move through quickly, and Saturday’s is not going to be the last one that moves through. There were still a few scattered showers by the time we headed to work/school. Temperatures for Monday are not going to make it out of the 40s, and with skies clearing overnight, expect a cold and frosty morning on Tuesday. Skies will be mostly clear on Tuesday, but overnight our next Alberta Clipper will begin to approach us. We expect to see rain throughout most of the day on Wednesday, but especially in the afternoon there is the possibility for a thunderstorm event. However, as of this time we do not expect it to be severe. Thursday the chance for rain lingers as another low pressure system begins to approach us and will move in by late Thursday. EARLY Friday morning there is the chance for some some flurries mixing with rain as temperatures dip below freezing. Fortunately for us, the weekend is when the sunshine will return and temperatures will begin to climb. For your weather updates, make sure to follow us on Twitter @NLIWeather
(04/01/16 9:14pm)
Throughout the entire course of yesterday, we received 0.26 inches of rain. Last night there were a few thunderstorms in the vicinity, which put on a good lightning show, and we picked up nearly half of our daily rainfall as that low pressure system moved through. Cold air moved into the area behind the cold front that passed through behind those thunderstorms, and that is going to bring us cooler temperatures than we have had the past couple of days. That, coupled with a trough in the jet stream, cooler Canadian air is going to move in to the area over the weekend and into next week. Both Friday and Saturday we can expect to see the chance for scattered showers in the afternoon, and temperatures on Saturday are going to dip down to the 40s. Sunday is going to be the pick of the days for the weekend, Sunny skies and a high temperature back in the 50s. Monday we have another chance for some rain to begin your work week. Tuesday we should see sunshine return, but temperatures will only be in the mid 40s. Wednesday more significant rain will move through the area and rain chance will linger into Thursday and Friday. For your weather updates, make sure to follow us on Twitter @NLIWeather.

MUNCIE, IN (NewsLink Indiana) -- Strong thunderstorms moved throughout throughout last evening. Lightning reports were frequent and hail was reported throughout east central Indiana. Unfortunately though, behind those thunderstorms was colder hair, so high temperatures are going to be about 20 degrees cooler than they were on Sunday. Tuesday and Wednesday we are going to see quite a bit of sunshine, especially on Tuesday. On Wednesday skies will grow cloudier throughout the day as the next low pressure system begins to approach our area. Our next rain chance is going to occur on Thursday, with the best rain chance occurring before noon. There is the possibility of a thunderstorm on Thursday as well, but as of right now we do not expect it to be severe. Temperatures will once again drop on Friday, and a lesser rain chance will stick around during the day before clearing out for the weekend. MUNCIE, IN (WCRD Weather) -- One of the most important parts of severe weather week is learning how to respond to severe weather. There are many steps you as an individual can take, including enacting your family disaster plan and keeping a record of your families medical needs, just to name a few. However, there are many other agencies across the state that take action to respond to severe weather. These included the National Weather Service (NWS), Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS), the Red Cross, local emergency services, and the media. All of these organizations have an important role to play in responding to severe weather. For more information about the steps each of these groups takes during severe weather check out the following report filed by WCRD Forecasters Molly Coates, Ethan Rosuck, and Caleb Saylor.
(03/21/16 2:08pm)
Cooler temperatures dominated throughout the weekend, but temperatures will be on the rise for at least the beginning of the week. Warm southern air will move into our area, causing temperatures to climb up through the lower 60s, and skies will be full of sunshine! Tuesday you should expect to have breezy conditions throughout the day as our next low pressure system approaches. During the day on Thursday, there will be heavy rain at times and the possibility of a thunderstorm or two during the day. Once all is said and done we can expect around 0.5 in. of rain. Overnight on Thursday temperatures will drop as a cold front associated with the low pressure system moves through, and with that there is a 30% chance of snow, but no accumulation is expected. High temperatures will drop significantly on Friday, but will rebound a bit for the weekend. For your weather forecast and weather update, follow us on Twitter @NLIWeather

During the day today we saw beautiful sunny skies and a breeze
throughout the day, it was truly a spring day. As we have made our way
into the evening we have seen high-level clouds move in ahead of the
next low pressure system that is going to move through the southern Ohio
River valley region from the southwest, but will have some effect on
the weather we see here. Tomorrow there is the chance for some rain/snow
mix early on in the day, turning to mainly a rain chance later in the
day. Sunday the sunshine will return. Unfortunately throughout the
weekend temperatures are going to be cooler than what they have been as
we will only make it to the lower 40s. Monday and Tuesday we will see
more sunshine in our forecast and high temperatures will once again
making their way up to more spring like temperatures. Wednesday and
Thursday are our next chances for rain as a low pressure system begins
to work it's way through our area. Thursday during the day there is the
chance for an isolated thunderstorm throughout the area, and late
Thursday evening and into Friday is looking like the best chance for
heavy precipitation. That heavy precip is likely to persist throughout
Friday, possibly changing to snow overnight on Friday before moving our
of our area Saturday morning. For you weather updates, follow us on

MUNCIE, IN (NewsLink Indiana) -- We had some windy conditions today, but those are expected to die down overnight tonight. We will start to see temperatures drop throughout the day tomorrow as we only make it up to the lower to mid 50s on Friday. Saturday we will see clouds and the slight chance for some rain/snow mix throughout the day. Temperatures will only be in the low 40s though, so it will be a gentile reminder that winter was not too long ago. Sunday and Monday we will sunshine return to our skies, and temperatures will start to increase on Monday. Those warmer temperatures are going to stick around throughout the beginning of next week, but clouds will return to east central Indiana, with the chance for rain on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday is our next significant chance for rain, but as you know that could change in an instant. To keep on top of changing weather, make sure to follow us on twitter @NLIWeather.
(03/14/16 2:30pm)
Throughout Saturday evening and through last night, we officially picked up 1.17 inches of rain at the Muncie Airport, and that rain is expected to continue throughout the day today. We will see a slight break in the rain during the early hours, but should start again around noon. There is the slight chance for some thunderstorms throughout the day, so don’t be surprised if you see some lightning or hear some thunder, but we should not expect damaging winds. Overnight we should see the rain system continue to move out of our area. Tuesday we should see some slight breaks in the clouds throughout the day, but they day will continue to be gray. Tuesday evening there will be another low pressure system that will move to the north of us, bringing rain to east central Indiana and the possibility of a thunderstorm in the evening. The NOAA Storm Prediction Center has placed most of central Indiana under a slight risk of severe weather, which is better than the chance for Monday. This means that there is the possibility of damaging winds, thunder, and lightning. Wednesday we will see more of the clouds start to break up, allowing for more sunshine. That sunshine should persist on Thursday and Friday with only a slight chance for rain Thursday night.
(02/29/16 3:27pm)
This past weekend we enjoyed sunny skies and high temperatures in the middle to upper 60s. This week we are going to be brought back to reality as winter returns. Monday we will see partly sunny skies early in the day, but skies will be clearing partially throughout the day, giving us mostly sunny skies in the latter half of the day. Overnight on Monday clouds will begin to roll back in ahead of the next rain/snow system that will move through the area. Tuesday we expect to see cloudy skies and a high temperature hovering around 50 degrees, but rain will dominate the day as we can expect to see rain totals of about 0.25-0.5 inches. Tuesday night there is the chance for the rain to change over to snow, with a period of freezing rain in between, potentially making travel conditions tricky for Wednesday Morning. During the day on Wednesday we will see a break in the weather briefly with partly sunny skies. Thursday is the day we expect to winter return in the form of snow and cold temperatures. As the system moves out of the southwest, the freeze line will move from the northwest, meaning most of the northern half of the state will see snow. Here in Muncie we can expect to have anywhere from 1-3 inches accumulation on Thursday. Friday those cold temperatures are going to stick around, but we will see partly sunny skies.
