3 slates visit current SGA

In its final meeting before next week's election, Student Government Association opened the floor Wednesday afternoon to members of all three competing slates. The groups outlined their goals and addressed senators' concerns on certain platform points, particularly those SGA already addressed.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cards chip away to win vs. CMU

In a matter of eight seconds of Wednesday night's game against Central Michigan University, Ball State University men's basketball freshman forward Mo Hubbard showed exactly how bad his team wants to win a Mid-American Conference West Division title. Hubbard stuffed Central Michigan center Brandon Ford's dunk attempt at the 13:14 mark in the second half, and then ran the length of the court and was fed for a soaring finger roll at the 13:06 mark to give the Cardinals a 36-27 lead against the Chippewas.

Three groups of students who want to govern the student body have had their campaign platforms available for review since Monday. Some platform items can be accomplished while others are unlikely, superficial promises. Cardinal Collaboration's platform has several vague items that will be difficult for SGA to address.

FOOTBALL: Cards complete coaching staff

Ball State University football coach Stan Parrish hired an assistant coach today to complete his staff for the 2009 season. Jason Eck was hired as the Cardinals new offensive line coach and is the final member of the staff for Parrish, who became Ball State's head coach after Brady Hoke left for San Diego State University in December.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cards keep the winning streak rolling

The Ball State University women's basketball team knocked off its fifth straight Mid-American Conference opponent Tuesday, this time beating Eastern Michigan University 68-59 on the road. The Cardinals (19-8, 11-2 MAC) have defeated the Eagles (7-18, 3-10 MAC) in their last six contests dating back to the 2005-06 season.

Daniel Reagan is an associate professor of political science at Ball State University. He has been at Ball State since 1989 and focuses the subject of public policy in politics. Ball State FIJI fraternity receives several awards at "State Day" in Indianapolis

The Ball State University chapter of FIJI fraternity received several awards Saturday at an annual event in Indianapolis. The event, "State Day," was put on by the fraternity's Beta Graduate Chapter. According to the press release, "State Day" is a long-standing tradition that is attended by all eight Indiana chapters.

CAP students help the homeless in 'hole' new way

Two architecture studio classes have put their skills to use by creating a miniature golf course for a fundraising event this weekend. An 18-hole putting green was designed for Partners in Housing, a non-profit affordable housing developer in Indianapolis.

On-campus viewing area designated for slate debate

Students interested in watching the Student Government Association slate debate can do so in Teachers College Rm. 102, according to a press release. Doors will open at 8 p.m. and the debate will be aired live at 9 p.m. on Ch. 57 on campus and Ch. 61 off campus.
