Dance Marathon receives latest total for Riley Children's Hospital

The final Dance Marathon total is in, and president Chelsea Backus could not be more excited. This year's Dance Marathon raised $12,123, about $1,500 less than last year's event. Backus said the amount of money raised was less than last year due to a reduction in the number of sponsors.

Yet with a month to go before the NFL Draft, Davis is falling off the radar. Shafer Tower namesake dies at 93

Hamer Shafer was humble, but Ball State University dedicated a 150-foot bell tower in his honor. Shafer, who along with his wife, Phyllis, is the namesake of Shafer Tower. He died at age 93 Wednesday in Muncie. The Muncie philanthropist began his career of more than 70 years as the first employee of Muncie Power Products Inc.

Gandhi to speak about change and nonviolence

Mohandas K. Gandhi called upon all people to become the change they wish to see in the world. More than 60 years after his assassination, his grandson Arun Gandhi, will come to Ball State University with a similar message. Gandhi will present "Lessons Learned From My Grandfather" tonight at 7 p.

MEN'S TENNIS: Cards oh, so close to major upset

It was the closest match of the year and Ball State University men's tennis team had a chance to take down the University of Memphis on a neutral court. With 3-0 lead, Ball State needed to win one of the final four singles matches for the victory. The four remaining singles matches went to Memphis.

'Bubba's place' loses its icon

Two large posters covered with signatures and well wishes sit near the entrance of Muncie Liquors at Wheeling and Riverside avenues to commemorate the death of a Ball State University community icon. Chris "Bubba" Smith, the face of Muncie Liquors, died early Tuesday at age 39 from an apparent heart attack, Chris Johnson, Muncie Liquors general manager and Bubba's friend for 21 years, said.

MEN'S GOLF: Cards finish first at tourney

Despite deteriorating course conditions and dismal weather, the Ball State University men's golf team collected its first tournament victory of the season on Saturday. The Cardinals won the Ball State Cardinal Collegiate after the final round was canceled due to rain.

Coming off its first tournament victory of the spring season, the Ball State University women's golf team looks to win its second straight.
