Author kicks off financial literacy week

Best-selling author Jean Chatzky will kick off Financial Literacy Week with a presentation which draws heavily from her new book "The Difference: How Anyone Can Prosper In Even the Toughest Times." Ray Montagno, associate dean at the Miller College of Business, said he hoped Financial Literacy Week would be the beginning of a strategy for the business college and Ball State University.

Senior sculpture major Braydee Euliss said her face was as red as the folders in which her awards were given when she heard her named called for a third time. Friday night was the opening reception of the 74th Student Art Show in the Ball State University Museum of Art.

TRACK AND FIELD: Ball State opens outdoor season in West Lafayette

The Ball State University track and field team is cracking the windows open and embracing uncertain weather elements in its first outdoor meet of the season. The Cardinals will travel to West Lafayette Saturday for the Mike Poehlien Invitational. "We're using the first meet to get all the kinks out," sophomore thrower Lauren Cleaver said.

GYMNASTICS: Coming off top place finishes in the MAC, three Ball State gymnasts prepare to take their performance to the NCAA Regionals

It has been six years and there have been two head coaches since the Ball State University gymnastics team has appeared in the NCAA Regional gymnastics competition. In 2003, Ball State's Quiana Williams placed 10th in the all-around competition, Amy Bodus placed 13th in the all-around and Cassie Anthony competed on the uneven bars and the balance beam in the NCAA Central Regional under then-head coach Lisa Simonton.

McKinley Mile rolls through today

The McKinley Mile, the annual bike-a-thon down McKinley Avenue, is today along with several other events. Nine teams will participate this year -- 2 women's teams and 7 men's teams. The teams will be combined in the races, but female winners and male winners will be crowned.

Less than one month from the start of the conference tournament, the Ball State University men's volleyball team now knows it will not have to travel for its quarterfinals match. With first-place No. 14 Ohio State University sweeping No. 15 Loyola University, Ball State clinched at least the No.
