SOFTBALL: Ball State begins road trip Friday at Northern Illinois

Cardinals have won seven straight against the Huskies

With just two weekends left before the Mid-American Conference Tournament, Ball State University will begin a four-game road trip today.

Ball State (32-13, 10-4 MAC) will visit Northern Illinois University (20-26, 8-6 MAC) on Friday for a doubleheader, beginning at 1 p.m. It will then head to Western Michigan University (11-19, 6-8 MAC) for a two-game set Saturday and Sunday.

The Cardinals are on a four-game winning streak and are tied for first place in the MAC West Division. The Huskies are in third place, two games behind the Cardinals in the division.

Ball State has won its last seven meetings with Northern Illinois. If the Cardinals can extend that streak to nine, the Huskies would likely be knocked out of the MAC West race.

Sunday's game will be Senior Day for the Broncos, giving them extra motivation. Western Michigan is in fourth place in the MAC West, fighting for one of the eight spots in the conference tournament. It is four games behind Ball State.
