Ball State falls to Central Michigan at home, 57-65

After hitting a season-high 18 points in its last matchup, Ball State men's basketball only made five 3-pointers during its 65-57 loss to Central Michigan. With a victory, the Cardinals could have clinched the Mid-American Conference West outright, but after the loss, the two are tied for the division lead, both sitting at 10-7 in the conference. “I don’t think there was a high expectation,” junior forward Franko House said.

Burns named MAC West Pitcher of the Week

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Brendan Burns earned the Mid-American Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week award. Burns won his first start of the year in the Cardinals' 9-3 win over Milwaukee Feb. 27. He struck out six, allowed four hits and walked four batters in six innings pitched. As a freshman, Burns posted a 7.58 ERA in 38 innings, but through 10.1 innings in 2016, he has 10 strikeouts and has only allowed one earned run. Ball State returns to action March 4 against Ole Miss in the Chanticleer Classic in Conway, South Carolina.
