Vice President for Student Affairs Ro-Anne Royer Engle sent a campus-wide email June 19 announcing a young man was shot and killed on West Abbott Street. She said he was a Ball State student. Kathy Wolf, vice president for marketing and communications, confirmed the victim's name was Montana Miquel Lopez, who the Muncie Star Press reported was a Ball State freshman.
