Ball State to take on Indiana for 4 of next 5 seasons

Ball State and Indiana haven't laced it up against each other on a football field since 2012. Beginning next season, the Cardinals and Hoosiers will meet four times over the next five years. Ball State will travel to Bloomington in 2018 and 2020, and the teams will meet at Lucas Oil Stadium in 2019.

Kavanaugh named MAC Offensive Player of the Week

Junior forward Lexi Kavanaugh has been named the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week for field hockey. Kavanaugh’s performance in the past three games has been crucial for the Cardinals' offensive attack. She scored four of the team’s six goals this week, as Ball State took on Northwestern, Ohio State and Appalachian State.

Emphasis on recruiting makes walk-on tryout more difficult

The Ball State men's volleyball team is set to hold its walk-on tryouts this week, a process very familiar to assistant coach Kevin Furnish. Furnish was a walk-on at Ball State, where he graduated in 1991 after a solid career. Men's volleyball walk-ons aren't as prevalent now as they were during his time, but the Cardinals look for new players in tryouts every year.

Indie-folk band coming to Pruis talks new album, creative beginnings

The latest act coming to Pruis Hall is more than just a band. PigPen Theatre Co. began creating plays as a group in 2007. Now, two indie-folk albums and one EP into their music career, this group of seven men are touring the United States for their newest release “Whole Sun.” They'll be performing at Ball State on Sept. 17. The Daily News talked to members Alex Falberg and Ben Ferguson.

Offense shows more consistency in 1-2 weekend

Ball State women's volleyball coach Steve Shondell continues to see the bright side. Despite a 1-2 weekend at the Washington State University Cougar Challenge over the weekend, the Cardinals' offense played with more consistency. Shondell said it was some of the best volleyball he's seen from his team.

Political science professor celebrates 90th birthday

Teh-Kuang Chang works in a corner office in North Quad, surrounded by books and piles of file folders. The area looks lived in – which fits. The political science professor is celebrating his 90th birthday on Sept. 15. He’s spent 49 of those years as a Ball State faculty member.

Active Mind members hope events will reduce mental illness stigma

Students won’t have to go out of their way Sept. 14 to hear the message of Ball State’s chapter of a mental health awareness group. Active Minds is bringing it to the people with an event that every student on campus can participate in while walking to class. They’ll also be hosting an inspirational speaker.
