A snow-covered start to the day it was! Although the snow has moved out of the Muncie area, the cold temperatures have not. Our average high for this time of year is right around 40 degrees; however, our highs for the next couple of days are going to be well under that. The next chance for snow will come heading into next week on Sunday where accumulations are expected to be between 1 and 3 inches. Temperatures will dip down into the mid teens next week with wind chills expected to plunge the feels like temperatures well down into the negative values. Make sure to bundle up as these temperatures pose a hazard to those who are outside without proper winter protection! MUNCIE, IN (NewsLink Indiana) -- Good Evening! The jet stream has moved south from Canada, bringing much cooler air along with it. Today, Muncie also first got its taste of sticking snow! It began as flurries throughout the day, but got a bit heavier in the beginning evening hours around dinner time. These flurries will move out overnight, still leaving cold air as the last full week of classes for the Fall 2016 semester end here at Ball State. After a high of 26 for tomorrow, temps will get a bit warmer into the lower 30s for Saturday and Sunday. Coming along on Sunday, this is when the next frontal system will move through the area, bringing a few inches of snow along for the ride. Expect snow throughout the day on Sunday, turning over to rain going into Monday. Temps will be in the mid-to-lower 30s for Monday and Tuesday, before an even colder Arctic air blast moves into Indiana Wednesday night and into Thursday. With that new blast, temps will drop into the high teens to near 20, with slight snow chances. As always, make sure to follow us on Twitter, @NLIWeather for all your weather updates!

December is finally here, and if you take a look at the 7 day forecast, it says just that. Temperatures have started to drop into the lower 40s and that trend will continue over the next few days. We will remain dry until Sunday as there will be a chance of PM showers. The low on Sunday is 33, so it is possible that their could be some freezing rain or some snow flurries associated with that rain if the temperature gets a little lower. Take safety precautions as necessary. As we look further into next week, the high on Thursday is sitting at 29 right now and 28 for Friday. So as next week progresses the temperatures could continue to drop even more. So make sure as you go through your routine for the day that you have a decent sized weather coat. The temperatures are getting cold and it's time to start bundling up. For more up to date information make sure to follow us on Twitter @WCRDWX.

December has finally arrived, and with it came a drop in temperatures. The last few days of November bought temperatures above average, but today we actually fell under average for this time of year. The average daily high for December 1st is 47 degrees, but we only reached 42 for the high. We are. however; back more more appropriate conditions for this time of year. Friday will bring more overcast skies to end the work week, with a high of 41 degrees. Our first true chance to see snow accumulation is this Sunday, with the possibility for a rain/snow mixture. Usually, our first true snowfall is mid November, so we are due for it soon. Temperatures will remain in the mid to low 40's for much of the 7 day forecast, but we might see a high of only 29 for next Thursday. Make sure to give us a follow on Twitter @NLIWeather

Temperatures for the past several days have been above average for this time of year, but cooler temperatures are on the way. Tomorrow the cloud cover is going to stick around for most of the day with a few peeks of sunshine throughout the day, but temperatures are going to drop 10-15 degrees overnight. The high temperature for tomorrow will be around 40 degrees. There is the slight chance for a few snow flurries to creep into northwestern Grant county, but it will not amount to much. Temperatures throughout the day on Friday and Saturday will remain in the lower 40s, but a bit more sunshine will return for Saturday. Sunday is the best chance for snow in the next 7-days. Accumulation won't amount to much early on Sunday and will transition from Snow to a more rain/snow mix throughout the late morning and early afternoon, with a rain chance Late afternoon. Overnight on Sunday and into Monday morning there is another chance for rain/snow mix, with more rain than snow. Temperatures Monday through Wednesday are going to begin to climb through the upper 40s and into the lower 50s on Wednesday, but a slight rain chance returns for the middle of next week.
