SGA spends 2/3 of fund since March

Student Government Association executives have spent almost $4,000 out of the almost $6,000 budgeted for use at their discretion, and the budget does not roll over until March. "SGA has to be smart on what they spend," Treasurer John Boone said, "Since we are on a tight budget, every little thing we buy has to go through approval of me.

The Student Government Association has spent $4,000 of its $6,000 discretionary budget - no more funds will be available until the new term in March. Those expenses include $1,500 on fireworks for Homecoming, $1,500 on leadership scholarships and $600 T-shirts and $300 for the Web site.

WOMEN'S GOLF: Cardinals finish round with consistent scores

Shooting a 314 in the final round at the Legends of Indiana Golf Course in Franklin, Ind. the Ball State University women's golf team finished in 14th place overall with a combined team score of 938 strokes. Despite a mediocre finish, coach Katherine Mowat was proud of her team's effort.

When Cheri Daniels lost her mother to heart disease more than three years ago, the first lady of Indiana decided to do something to raise awareness about the disease. Daniels said people often think breast cancer is the leading killer of women, but it's not.

Presentation to teach students about Ball State rules, policies

Ball State University students who do not check their e-mail cannot use that as an excuse for missing appointments, but if they break school rules while helping a friend who needs medical attention, they can get away punishment free. These, as well as other rules and regulations students may not be aware of in the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities, will be discussed during the Student Code Awareness Week presentation "Decoding the Code.

University deals with drainage, sewage problems at apartments

Sewage and drainage issues that have plagued a playground area at Scheidler Apartments have been dealt with or are being taken care of, Ball State University officials said. The apartments had an issue with a backed-up sewage facility several weeks ago, Sally Freistat, assistant director of university apartments, said.

FOOTBALL: BSU running back Lewis out for season

Ball State University running back MiQuale Lewis will be out for the rest of the season after suffering a shoulder injury Saturday against the University at Buffalo, according to Ball State coach Brady Hoke. He suffered the injury on a 54-yard run late in the fourth quarter when he was tackled by Buffalo defensive back Ramon Guzman.

Radio station gives free O.A.R. tickets

Emens Auditorium is giving away 10 tickets for Sunday's O.A.R. concert in cooperation with WNOU 93.1 this week. Two tickets will be given away each day, one between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and one between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Emens is hoping the giveaway will promote the show outside of Muncie and attract concertgoers from Indianapolis, Emens director for marketing said.

GOLF: Men rebound nicely at local invitational

After a disappointing finish at the Xavier Invitational Tournament last week, the men's golf team has resurrected itself to a second place position through 36 holes at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational in Delaware County. With a team score of 561, the Cardinals trail Detroit University by one stroke.
