Ten unique holidays to celebrate this semester

It seems that you can’t open Facebook without seeing a post about a "holiday" that you didn’t even know existed. According to daysoftheyear.com, there are multiple "holidays" for every day of the year. Here are some you can celebrate this semester.

Spectrum, AASA discuss hate crimes to bring awareness, change

Although there are no reported incidents of hate crimes on Ball State's campus, it is still a large national issue. The Federal Bureau of Investigation's most recent report on hate crimes shows that law enforcement agencies submitted incident reports involving 5,479 criminal incidents and 6,418 offenses motivated by bias toward race, gender, gender identity, religion, disability, sexual orientation and ethnicity in 2014, according to a press release.


'Minecraft: Education Edition' announced

Microsoft and Mojang have just announced that Minecraft: Education Edition will be launching this summer for teachers and education institutions around the world to use. The Education Edition is actually an “expanded” version of an already existing program called MinecraftEdu. This special version of Minecraft has been used by teachers and other education institutions since 2011, and is a modded version of the game that is appropriate for classroom use.

What happened in athletics over the weekend: Jan. 15-17

Friday, Jan. 15 The track & field opened up its two-day invite at the Kentucky Invitational with senior thrower Marie Lumpkin throwing 16.41m in the weight throw, earning her a 23rd place finish overall.
