Gov. Pence announces state support for training hotel in Muncie

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence announced state support today for a training institute and teaching hotel in Muncie. Pence met to talk about the collaborative project with Muncie Mayor Dennis Tyler and officials from The Arc of Indiana, a statewide advocacy group for people with disabilities. The project is first of its kind and will offer post-secondary education opportunities for people with disabilities.


	Muncie doesn’t have funds to enforce sidewalk clearing fine

City lacks funds to enforce shoveling law

Despite the amount of snowfall this winter season, one little known law isn’t being enforced in Muncie. City law dictates that by 10 a.m. each day, residents must shovel sidewalks in front of their house or face a $20 fine.

Ball State president gets key to city

President Jo Ann Gora was honored by the Muncie Common Council this evening and received a key to the city. Councilman Julius J. Anderson presented the award and lauded Gora’s efforts with immersive learning to get students involved in Muncie.

Ball State student remembered for warm hug

A freshman who died in an apartment off campus Saturday, will be remembered for his bear hug, which friends say made any person feel like they were doing something right. Muncie Police and the University Police Department have not yet released the cause of death. Swager’s hall director, Alexander Trout, sent an email later that day to residents on the sixth floor of Studebaker West Complex to say Elija Swager had died. University spokesperson Tony Proudfoot confirmed that Swager was found dead Saturday.

US prepares tough response for Russia over Ukraine

WASHINGTON (AP) — Western powers on Sunday prepared a tough response to Russia’s military advance into Ukraine and warned that Moscow could face economic penalties, diplomatic isolation and bolstered allied defenses in Europe unless it retreats. The crisis may prove to be a game-changer for President Barack Obama’s national security policy, forcing him to give up his foreign policy shift to Asia and to maintain U.S.


Ball State not worried by IU data breach

Despite the recent Indiana University security breach, Ball State students shouldn’t have to worry about their information falling into the wrong hands. The Associated Press reported that 146,000 IU students’ information was accessible to the public last week. The university said there was no evidence that anyone had seen the student data while it was public.
