Undermanned and undersized, the Ball State Cardinals traveled to Toledo, Ohio in hopes of earning their first road victory. Ball State was forced to play without two of their key players Sunday evening as Majok Majok and Kindon Crowder sat out the entire game due to sprained ankles.
Heading into play at the Snow Bird Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida, the Ball State baseball team had a chance to get off to the school’s best start in 14 years.

With Thursday and Saturday matches against two top 10 teams in the country, Ball State was hoping to make a statement. The one it made wasn’t the one it wanted. The men’s volleyball team dropped its matches against Loyola (25-19), (25-21), (20-25), (25-17) and Lewis (25-14), (25-16), (25-18). “We got our butts kicked pretty hard and I think the frustrating thing is we know we can play better than we did,” said Ball State head coach Joel Walton after the loss to Lewis.

For three sets, Ball State struggled to find answers for the Lewis onslaught. The men’s volleyball team dropped its road match against the Flyers (25-14), (25-16), (25-18). The Cardinals came out flat and maintained their low energy throughout the match, unable to compete with the Flyers on both offense and defense. Ball State head coach Joel Walton was left searching for answers. “We were really disrupted by their serve,” he said.
When the final amount raised for Dance Marathon was announced, the entire room bursted into cheers and tears. The event raised $344,801.21 for the Riley Hospital, almost $100,000 more than the goal of $250,000. Last year, almost $200,000 was raised.
With a little more than two hours to go, the dancers at Dance Marathon are staying strong for the kids. Junior professional sales major Andrew Sharp said he wanted to do Dance Marathon because he wanted to give back to a great organization. “This is a great organization and a lot of the stories are really motivational,” Sharp said.
Nearly eight hours into their marathon, BSUDM is tweeting and dancing to raise money for Riley’s Hospital for Children.
Even before the annual Dance Marathon kicked off at 2 p.m., the energy was surging. Every time new students joined the group in the Field Sports Building, they were greeted with cheers and high-fives.

Chaos in the Atrium is fairly normal for Ball State students, but today student activists made it even more chaotic.
Ball State was overpowered early and often en route to its 3-1 loss to Loyola, whose attacks were the biggest advantage of the match. The Cardinals were resilient, but ultimately the Ramblers displayed too much firepower. Loyola’s final attack percentage was .369 on a night where the team used an array of disguises to execute their offense.
After sending a serve into the net in the first set, Ball State’s Graham McIlvaine punched the court with his fists. The frustration was a common theme throughout the night for the Ball State men’s volleyball team, falling to No.
Platform points took center stage in the final debate of the Student Government Association election season with voting to start Monday. Presidential candidates for Cardinal Connection, Nick Wilkey, and Empower, Jes Wade, went back and forth during the debate, challenging each other’s platform points. Debate moderator Payne Horning said voting decisions will come down to platforms and not personalities. “When you look at these two slates it’s rather stark,” Horning said.
