Following Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb's stay-at-home order and communication from Ball State President Geoffrey Mearns, Ball State will be closing all residence halls earlier — by Tuesday, March 24.
Previously the university had the deadline for students to move out set at 5 p.m. March 29.
Ball State Housing's website states students in residence halls should anticipate vacating their room by 10 p.m. Tuesday, unless they have already obtained approval to remain in a residence hall.
If students believe they have "an extraordinarily compelling reason" to stay temporarily in a residence hall beyond that time, they must seek that permission immediately, the website states.
Permission can be received by filling out the Petition To Stay form. The website states limited exceptions will be considered for extraordinary circumstances, including but not limited to a lack of a safe and suitable alternative living arrangement, prohibitive travel restrictions or exceptional ongoing academic commitments.
