Indiana Family Killed

LEBANON, Ind. — A woman whose former boyfriend is serving a 225-year sentence in an Indiana triple slaying said Tuesday that the man was agitated and out of breath when he woke her up the night of the killings.

Mala Singh-Mattingly testified during the murder trial of David Camm, another man accused in the case. The Courier-Journal (http://cjky.it/16c2oTZ ) reported that she told jurors her ex-boyfriend, Charles Boney, was "real secretive" when he left with his backpack one evening in September 2000 to "meet a buddy."

She said Boney was supposed to report to work at 10 p.m. but returned home agitated just after midnight.

"He woke me up and he was breathing really hard, excited somewhat," said Singh-Mattingly, who was flown in from Trinidad to give her testimony.

She testified that after awakening her, Boney, who had a scraped knee, showed her a gun. She identified it as a revolver when prosecutors showed her photos of different styles of guns.

She said she was scared and told Boney to get the gun out of the house. The next morning, Boney wanted her and his mother to watch television news coverage of "some type of murder," Singh-Mattingly said.

It turned out to be the shooting deaths of Camm's wife, Kimberly Camm, 35, and the couple's children, Bradley, 7, and Jill, 5. All three victims were shot to death inside the garage of the family's Georgetown, Ind., home.

Camm has been convicted of murder twice. Both convictions have been overturned, so he's facing trial a third time.

It's the first of his trials in which jurors have heard testimony from Boney, who was convicted in 2006 on three counts of murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder in the killings.

Boney, whose sweatshirt and DNA were found at the scene of the slayings, told jurors earlier in the trial that he visited Camm's home on the day of the shootings and sold him the gun that was used.

Boney testified he was outside when the shootings occurred and that Camm, a former Indiana state trooper, also tried to shoot him but the gun misfired. Boney said he then chased Camm into the garage and tripped over some shoes, scraping his knee.

No murder weapon has been found.
