MUNCIE -- A Seattle think tank wants Ball State University to review faculty teachings and
investigate use of a textbook that it says "appears to be one long argument for atheism."
The Discovery Institute says the use of the book appears to violate Ball State
President Jo Ann Gora's recent opposition to teaching intelligent design.
Discovery Institute John West tells The Star Press (http://tspne.ws/1atF21c )
he believes a "Dangerous Ideas" honors course violates Gora's new policy "forbidding its faculty
from favoring or endorsing one side of a religious debate over another."
Gora said July 31 that intelligent design and creationism isn't appropriate f
or science courses because it is seen as a religious belief, not a scientific theory.
Spokeswoman Joan Todd said Ball State had received the institute's complaint
but declined further comment.
