McKinley Mile rolls through today

Several events to follow bike race

The McKinley Mile, the annual bike-a-thon down McKinley Avenue, is today along with several other events.

Nine teams will participate this year -- two women's teams and seven men's teams. The teams will be combined in the races, but female winners and male winners will be crowned.

The race starts at 2 p.m. The event is in conjunction with University Program Board and Greek Week who will have a field day starting at 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on University Green and Woodworth Lawn.

Papa John's pizza, popcorn, cotton candy, inflatable moonwalks, a dunk tank and DJDJ will be on the University Green. Live performances from James Brown Car Alarm, Dreams of University and Red Light Remedy will be on Woodworth Lawn along with Rockstar Energy and the Super Slide inflatable. Charlie Cardinal also will be making an appearance during the race.

Kristan Kanorr, graduate assistant of the Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid, said about 1,000 people are expected to attend the events.
