MEN'S GOLF: Ball State faces familiar teams at IU meet

The Ball State University men's golf team will be competing in the Adidas Hoosier Invitational this weekend in Bloomington.

The No. 18 Hoosiers are playing host to the 15 teams in the tournament. The 54-hole tournament will feature 36 holes Saturday and 18 holes Sunday.

In addition to playing against Indiana University, the Cardinals will also face Purdue University, Butler University, the University of Evansville, IUPUI and IPFW. The invitational will also feature four Mid-American Conference teams: Bowling Green State University, Miami University, the University of Toledo and Northern Illinois University.

A total of seven Indiana colleges and universities will participate. Though Ball State will compete against several local schools, head coach Mike Fleck said that doesn't change anything about the tournament.

"It doesn't feel different," Fleck said. "Competition is competition. The tournament will be a good experience, and we will also be able to compete against other MAC schools. It will definitely be competitive and give us an idea where we stand in our own conference."
