Delaware County officials are investigating possible voter fraud during Tuesday's elections, according to county officials.
County Clerk Karen Wenger said the Delaware County Election Board had an emergency meeting Tuesday to discuss possible problems with absentee voting.
Tom Bennington, county commissioner and Republican party vice chairman, said the county prosecutor is investigating whether 10 absentee votes had forged signatures.
"I don't care if it's democrat or republican," he said. "If they are in violation of a state law, they should be prosecuted."
Mayoral candidates James Mansfield and Sharon McShurley said they did know about possible voter fraud.
Bennington said there were not enough supposedly-forged absentee ballots signed to alter the elections.
The issue was brought before the committee because voter fraud happens often and the organization wants to curtail it, Bennington said.
Former Indiana Senator Allie Craycraft said the votes might not be fraudulent because signatures change over time.
"I registered to vote 75 years ago, and my signature has changed since then," she said. "If people are being refused the right to vote because of their signature not matching, they are being treated unfairly."
