FOOTBALL: Cardinals' punter chosen as Ray Guy finalist

After being named to almost every preseason All-American list, Ball State University punter Chris Miller was chosen as one of 10 national finalists for the Ray Guy award.

The Ray Guy award is given to the nation's top punter and is chosen by the Greater Augusta Sports Council. The winner will be chosen Dec. 28, and the award will be presented at the ESPN College Football Awards Show in Orlando, Fla.

Miller, a junior who was named to the Playboy Magazine Preseason All-American list, paces the nation in punting with an average of 46.77 yards per punt. Of his 44 punts, 26 have been placed within the opponents' 20-yard line. He has put eight punts within the 20-yard line in the Cardinals' past two games. In 169 career punts, Miller has an average of 45.2 yards per boot and a career long of 78 yards.
