Kindness for a Clown: A heartwarming gesture brings joy to hometown hero next door

Renee Snyder and her family moved into a new house in May of 2022. While getting to know her neighbors, Snyder and her children quickly formed a bond with the older woman who lived next door. They soon discovered their neighbor was none other than Marlene “Bowz” Skeoch from the famous Muncie clown duo, Buttnz & Bowz.  Marlene and her husband, Jack "Buttnz" Skeoch, brought joy to children all around Muncie with their colorful makeup and intricate balloon animals for nearly three decades.

As a Black journalist, the way Black stories we try to tell are co-opted for praise stifles the credibility we are fighting to keep. My “voice” isn’t as loud as other journalists. Honestly, trying to be heard is exhausting. Constantly being disregarded for more prominent journalists is exhausting. Not having the support to tell the stories of the Black community is exhausting.

Women’s Volleyball back in MAC-tion after two week hiatus

After two weeks off the court, Women's Volleyball was ready to hit the floor and set themselves up for a win Thursday against Ohio University. The MAC postponed the match against Western Michigan until March 7. However, the Cardinals didn't pass up this opportunity to put in some extra work.

Track team looks toward MAC Championship

The Cardinals have one more hurdle to jump tomorrow as they host the Ball State Tune-Up on Thursday, Feb. 17. However, the team’s main focus is the Mid-American Conference Championship next weekend.
