Strong defense leads Cardinals to 3-1 win over Western Michigan

Tied 4-4 early in the fourth set, senior outside hitter Mackenzie Kitchel’s block at the net got the Ball State Cardinals fired up after losing the previous set 25-12. After that block, the Cardinals would never trail in the match again and went on runs of 6-0 and 7-0 to defeat Western Michigan 3-1 (25-21, 25-18, 12-25, 25-14).

Cardinals women's volleyball travels to Bowling Green, Miami

When Ball State women’s volleyball plays Bowling Green State University and Miami (Ohio) this weekend, plenty of long rallies should be in store. The three teams top the Mid-American Conference in digs per set, with Bowling Green leading the conference (16.88), followed by Miami (16.31), and Ball State (16.18).

Ball State falls to Kent State in five sets

Ball State women’s volleyball struggled to keep up with Kent State, picking up its third loss in Mid-American Conference play. The MAC rivals fought a hard through all five sets, but the Flashes pulled away in the fifth set to win 3-2 (25-18, 25-23, 16-25, 23-25, 15-6). Head coach Kelli Miller said she saw some improvements in the loss. “I was really happy with our passing," she said. "I don’t think we could have passed much better tonight.

Sabrina Mangapora: A leader by example

Down two sets to none and trailing 20-15 in the third set to Youngstown State, junior outside hitter Sabrina Mangapora stepped on the court for her first regular season match in nearly two years. She contributed a kill and back-to-back service aces to help bring Ball State back within two in a crucial third set.
