It's good to be president, especially when Ball State University offers its president a three-year contract extension loaded with expensive bonuses. President Jo Ann Gora's contract was extended three years beyond the original expiration date, according to Ball State University officials. Kevin Burke, director of university communications, said the Board of Trustees voted unanimously to extend Gora's contract, which originally set to expire in August 2009, until June 30, 2012.

MITS will be adding a new route to the Late Loop. Starting Oct. 25, the North Late Loop will be added to the loop that already takes students from campus to downtown Muncie, Jeff Phipps, owner of Bygone's Bar and Grill, said. While working on a class paper, Carolyn Vallier said, she was interrupted by the one of the fire alarms that have occurred frequently in Noyer Complex this semester. Jim Clevenger, battalion chief for the Muncie Fire Department, said since April 16 Noyer has had 22 calls and more than 15 calls were results of fire alarms.
Ball State University sophomore goalkeeper Tiffany Shifflett was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday by the league office. Shifflett made 13 saves in the Cardinals' two games last weekend, pushing her 2007 save total to 140 - fifth-highest in school history.

Muncie police officers and paramedics clustered together on Ball State University's soccer field as a medical helicopter took off, transporting a victim of a fatal traffic accident on Interstate 69 on Sunday. Sgt. Linda Cook of the Muncie Police Department said officers closed University Avenue between Tillotson and Tally avenues to allow ambulances to transport accident victims to helicopters.
