Indiana Public Radio and Ball State to recreate famous 'War of the Worlds' radio broadcast

Oct. 30, 1938. The Spanish Orchestra in the Park Plaza, in New York City, is interrupted in the middle of a tango for a news broadcast. "Ladies and gentlemen, we interrupt our program of dance music to bring you a special bulletin from the Intercontinental Radio News..." Although announcements of the special broadcast were made prior to its airing, those who had not heard them reacted in a way that shook the whole country.

Former student enters guilty plea

A former Ball State University student arrested in connection with a battery at an off-campus party last year pleaded guilty this week. Kari Streib, 21, pleaded guilty Monday to the charge of criminal recklessness resulting in serious bodily injury - a Class D felony.

College football fans who watch ESPN will see some familiar faces Wednesday when the Ball State University football team plays Northern Illinois University on ESPN2. The crew of Reece Davis, Mark May, Lou Holtz and Rob Stone will announce the game for ESPN2, which will begin at 8 p.

MEN'S GOLF: BSU disappointed as it finishes 17th

In its last tournament of the fall season the Ball State University men's golf team finished 17th out of 18 teams at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M. The Cardinals shot a team-combined score of 893, 32 strokes behind first place New Mexico State University.

The Ball State University men's golf team is in 16th place out of 18 teams at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M. The Cardinals have a team-combined score of 601, 24 strokes behind first place University of Denver. After two rounds of the 54-hole tournament, sophomore Eric Steger leads all Cardinals with an individual score of 145.
