After hitting a season-high 18 points in its last matchup, Ball State men's basketball only made five 3-pointers during its 65-57 loss to Central Michigan. With a victory, the Cardinals could have clinched the Mid-American Conference West outright, but after the loss, the two are tied for the division lead, both sitting at 10-7 in the conference. “I don’t think there was a high expectation,” junior forward Franko House said.
Sophomore right-handed pitcher Brendan Burns earned the Mid-American Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week award. Burns won his first start of the year in the Cardinals' 9-3 win over Milwaukee Feb. 27. He struck out six, allowed four hits and walked four batters in six innings pitched. As a freshman, Burns posted a 7.58 ERA in 38 innings, but through 10.1 innings in 2016, he has 10 strikeouts and has only allowed one earned run. Ball State returns to action March 4 against Ole Miss in the Chanticleer Classic in Conway, South Carolina.
The Ball State Women's golf team posted a three-day score of 925 to place 16th at the Rio Verde Invitational this past weekend. The team posted individual round scores of 311, 304 and 310 over the weekend and were lead by junior Allison Lindley's nine-over-par performance of 225. Lindley lead the team by remaining incredibly consistent posting three straight rounds of 75.
Ball State track and field will head to Akron, Ohio, Feb. 26 and 27 for the Mid-American Conference indoors championships.
The Ball State men’s swimming and diving team has officially closed out its regular season and is entering the Mid-American Conference Championship beginning March 2. Under head coach Bob Thomas, the team has been preparing for the tournament since the beginning of November.
When Ball State (19-10, 10-6 Mid-American Conference) hosts Central Michigan (16-13, 9-7 MAC) March 1, it will be fighting to stay on top of the MAC West Division. A victory would secure the Cardinals' first outright MAC West title since the 2001-02 season, as well as Ball State's first 20-win season since that same season. Ball State has won four out of its last five games, including a record-setting night in its last game against Eastern Michigan. Central Michigan has won two in a row but trails Ball State by one game in the MAC West.
The Ball State men’s volleyball team's win streak is now at 10 matches — the recent success has come from a variety of players in the starting lineup.
The Ball State women's swimming and diving team wrapped up its competition at the Mid-American Conference championships with 131 team points and an eighth place finish. During the course of the four-day competition, the Cardinals had eight top-16 finishes as well as top-8 finishes in five events. After the festivities wrapped up on Feb.
Ball State track and field finished 11th in the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships this past weekend in Akron, Ohio, with a total score of 14 points.

Ball State softball is on a six-game win streak following its perfect 4-0 weekend at the Western Kentucky University Holiday Inn Spring Fling. The Cardinals opened up the weekend on Feb.
Ball State baseball (3-5) went 2-2 in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational, including an 8-3 loss to Mid-American Conference opponent Kent State. Junior first baseman Caleb Stayton led the Cardinals at the plate, going 8-16 with a home run, two doubles and nine RBI.

YPSILANTI, MICHIGAN – Behind 28 points from sophomore forward Moriah Monaco, Ball State women's basketball (19-8, 11-5 Mid-American Conference) spoiled Senior Day for Eastern Michigan (18-9, 9-7 MAC) with a 67-63 victory. Monaco was 8-15 (53.3 percent) from beyond the arc in the game and hit the go-ahead three-point shot with 52 seconds remaining in the game.

Ball State, who is holding a one-game lead in the MAC West Division, hosts Eastern Michigan at 2 p.m. today. The Cardinals are looking to bounce back from a road loss to Toledo on Feb. 23.
Ball State men’s volleyball swept Lindenwood University Lions Friday, 25-14, 25-21, 25-15. It was the ninth-ranked Cardinals' 10th consecutive victory, but senior setter Hiago Garchet said they won't get complacent. “The fact that we’ve won 10 matches doesn’t mean anything," he said.
Ball State women's basketball travels to Eastern Michigan on Feb. 27, against an Eagles team that has won five straight games.
Ball State baseball (1-3) will play three games this weekend in the Russ Matt Invitational in Winter Haven, Fla., including a game against Mid-American Conference rival Kent State (0-3) Feb. 27.
