Co-coaches Laura Seibold-Caudill and Bob Thomas said the trip is used as a bonding experience for the team, a chance to get away from Muncie and to allow the team to practice against teams they wouldn't regularly compete against.

After several seasons in an administrative role at Indiana University, Randy Heisler left to take the cross country and track and field coaching position at Ball State University. Heisler and his team debut today in the Ball State Open. "We're going to have to hit the ground running with the season being so close, but we're not going to put too much pressure on the [athletes] yet," Heisler said.

Ball State University now has one official withdrawal period for all classes, which replaces the confusing and sometimes grade-damaging policies of the past. Before, students were at the mercy of professors if they missed the first withdrawal period. A signature was required and the professors had the option of assigning a "W" or an "F" for the class.

From Staff Reports Ball State's men's basketball team is off to one of the worst starts in school history. Only twice in the program's history have the Cardinals had a worse record after fifteen games than 4-11 (0-2 in the Mid-American Conference). In 1970-71 and 1983-84 the Cardinals had a record of 3-12 at this point, the two worst starts for Cardinal programs in history.
Mohammed Al-Rasheed and his brother, both freshmen, have never seen snow. When they decided to come to Ball State University from Kuwait, both bought winter jackets. "I want to build a snowman and to do the angels," Al-Rasheed said. Being from Kuwait, Al-Rasheed is used to being more active outside than his American college counterparts.

The 45 words of the First Amendment were his greatest love, but defending their purpose was Louis E. Ingelhart's greatest passion. Ingelhart arrived at Ball State University in hope of fostering support for the outspoken at the edge of an era when Sen. Joseph McCarthy was championing the hunt for "communists" and battling the likes of Edward R. Murrow. The United States was shaken to its core by fear. Silence enveloped the nation. Ingelhart, meanwhile, focused on building an academic environment where the only fear was that of not speaking loudly enough.
Wing-Out restaurant in the Village remains closed amid complaints from employees about problems including missing paychecks, unpaid vendors and an unreachable owner. Owner Gary James, however, said many of these accusations are untrue. A sign posted in the restaurant's door says it will reopen after Christmas, but 17 days after the holiday and four days into the school year, employees said they are unsure whether they still have their jobs.

The realistic view of Muncie in "Armed & Famous" made the premiere a success for many residents and Ball State University students because it didn't make fun of the city. More than 25 students watched the premiere at junior Betsy Mills' house. Mills and her sisters, freshmen Mandy and Abby, were excited to see the show because they were born and raised in Muncie.
For a religion that claims to promote tolerance, it's interesting to see how many of Islam's leaders react to those who disagree with them. Even the not-so-extreme figures tend to (by Western standards) overreact to what would otherwise be trivial slights and grievances.
As part of an effort to work more with Ball State University, the County Commissioner's Office has hired a Ball State graduate student as a part-time intern. County Commissioner Larry Bledsoe said the commissioners expect more Ball State students or graduates to intern for them in the future.
With the recent death of Louis E. Ingelhart, former professor emeritus of Journalism and the comments left after his death, it's safe to say he was a man of character, integrity and passion. Some students are striving towards the same characteristics at this very moment.
