Anyone who has taken a political science class knows that the college age group, 18-25, has one of the worst turnout rates in most elections. Now, at 21, Indiana State University student Philip Peckinpaugh has announced his candidacy for Muncie Mayor this year.
The University of Illinois men's tennis team has the No. 5 ranking in the nation, but Ball State University senior Joe Epkey isn't intimidated. After losing their last two matches, the No. 69 Cardinals (1-2) will play Illinois (1-0) Friday in Carmel. Illinois is currently the highest ranked opponent on Ball State's schedule this season.

Peyton was not on the bench with the team and is indefinitely suspended due to a violation of team rules. Coach Ronny Thompson declined to explain how Peyton violated team policy in the post-game press conference.
Anytime that students, visitors, faculty or staff park for longer than their metered time, park in a spot reserved for someone else or choose not to pay a ticket within a certain amount of time, Ball State University's Parking Services gets involved. Nancy Wray, Parking Services office manager, said Parking Service employees write about 20,000 tickets per semester, but that number is lower than in the past.
Pretentiousness is something I think the world can do without. The starting tone echoed through a sparsely populated Lewellen Aquatic Center as six swimmers released the starting blocks. A few observers on the deck pointed to lane one and noticed that David Costill was swimming in an unconventional manner. Instead of alternating arms during the backstroke, Costill uses both arms moving simultaneously to propel himself through the water.
During Ball State University's winning streak, which now spans 10 games, the club's offense has received the bulk of the glory. Tuesday it was the Cardinals' defense that led them to a 71-49 victory over the University of Akron. Ball State struggled with its shooting in the first half, connecting on 11 of 31 (35 percent) of its shots from the field.
Ball State Student Voluntary Services will have its spring Volunteer Recruitment Fair Wednesday morning in the L.A. PIttenger Student Center Ballroom. Graduate Assistant Amanda Robinson said there are plenty of opportunities for students to volunteer, and the recruitment fair is a good place to start.
Instead of sitting on hard concrete benches outside Carmichael Hall, next fall students can curl up on wooden benches surrounded by flowers to study and talk with friends. Personalized bricks will go from the building doors to Carmichael Circle, which is in front of the hall.
