Freshman shares personal connection with Dance Marathon cause

Freshman Morgan Polizzi has collected $2,455 of the $4,536 raised by the Riley Relations Committee for Dance Marathon this year. Her reason hits a little closer to home than most. In August of 2013, the beginning of Polizzi’s senior year at Carmel High School, her world changed completely. Her younger brother Jack was diagnosed with Leukemia.

Student puts new thrift shop to the test

Sure, buying a new outfit feels great, but it’s better to go without the post-shopping, spent-all-the-money-on-H&M panic. Luckily, Jasmin Shopp, the owner of the new downtown store, Vintage Shoppe Thrift and Gift, said a student could put together a “one-of-a-kind” outfit for just $20 at her store.


Xanadu Boutique, an erotica shop in South Florida, has seen an increase in sales of adult toys and leather clothing since the rise in popularity of the book "50 Shades of Grey." Xanadu now sells the book and starting August 3 will sell it with a gift set, which includes items (pictured) such as a leather mask, handcuffs, the climax kit, a leather outfit and Ben Wa balls on a string. The middle-aged stepfather of one has a knack for bringing to life imaginative worlds evocative of Dungeons & Dragons, turning his passion for the art into a large part of his identity.

The Village bars: a closer look

After a two-day beach party, which required filling the entire first floor of Dill Street Bar & Grill with sand, Ball State alum Shane Nelson remembers the hours it took cleaning up afterward with co-workers and friends. “I can’t even tell you all the ridiculous pieces of clothing and random stuff we found in that sand,” Nelson said.
