Cardinals take home victory, improve to 11-9

Ball State’s men’s tennis team picked up another win at home today, beating IUPUI 6-1. The match began with Ball State winning two of the three doubles matches, taking the doubles point early to take a quick 1-0 lead.

The comparison of series: Pick your poison, marijuana

Marijuana has been a heavy topic of debate in recent years, specifically concerning its health factors. One health concern regarding marijuana is how different forms of consumption can affect the body. Once inhaled or ingested, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, THC, goes through the blood stream and is carried to the brain and other parts of the body. As there are numerous forms of consumption, they may not have the same effects on the body.

BASEBALL: Ball State eyes MAC Championship

Through 11 conference games, the Ball State baseball team is off to its best start since 2010. At 9-2, Ball State trails Central Michigan by one victory for first place in the Mid-American conference’s West Division.MAC preseason polls, voted on by the league’s head coaches, tabbed Ball State to win the MAC West — a feat the team has not accomplished since 2006.

University officials look to combat parking lot thefts

Police officials say the 25 parking lot thefts in 2012 is not “staggering,” but the university is undertaking a continued effort to revamp security cameras campus-wide.In 2012, there were 60 incidents, including 25 thefts, according to the most recent University Police Department records. In 2011, 29 incidents occurred in parking lots — 18 of those incidents were theft. One rape was reported.

The phrase "Muncie and comics" usually brings up images of a fat, lazy cat with a love for lasagna, but probably not four guys sitting at a table, rolling an eight-sided die. However, that scene is popular in Ball State almnus Jolly Blackburn's comic strip, "Knights of the Dinner Table."

Q&A with professor who ran during Boston Marathon bombings

Melissa McGrath, a Ball State assistant professor of speech and language pathology, was at mile marker 23 when two pressure-cooker bombs went off at the Boston Marathon. The day was stressful for her family back in Indiana, who had trouble reaching her when they heard what had happened. A year after the event, McGrath reflects on the Boston Marathon and the bombing.
