Sport change brings Welsh-White to Ball State

He had never thought about playing volleyball until the coach approached him and asked him to play. But after some tension between he and the varsity baseball coach, Welsh-White decided to give volleyball a try.

Effectiveness of new sexual assault prevention program hard to measure

Starting in August 2014, Ball State implemented an online education program for all incoming freshmen and transfer students called Think About It. Of the incoming freshmen in 2014, 86.7 percent completed the program, which Tom Gibson, associate vice president for student affairs, said was a good completion rate. In order to encourage students to finish the course, students receive weekly emails reminding them to take it.

Ball State students take most credit hours of Indiana college students

Although Ball State has the highest percentage of students taking 15 or more credit hours per semester in Indiana, the four-year graduation rate is still lower than Indiana University and Purdue University’s, according to the College Board. In fall 2014, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education sponsored Fifteen to Finish Indiana, encouraging students to take at least 15 credits per semester in order to graduate on time.

Indiana’s personal income is growing slower compared to the rest of the nation, according to the latest data from the federal government.

Competitive nature keeps Craft motivated

From her earliest memories, Jessica Craft remembers competing in sports with her twin brother, Jacob. The rivalry with her brother developed an intense competitive nature in Jessica that was tested after suffering her second injury in less than a year at Ball State in 2012.
