In a matchup between the first and second place teams in the Mid-American Conference West Division, Ball State fell to Western Michigan 80-55.
The Cardinals also guaranteed a bye to the MAC Tournament quarterfinals.
Ball State softball (3-9) opened the Citrus Classic I with a pair of losses Friday.
Ball State gymnastics team (4-8, 2-2 MAC) continued their MAC road trip taking on Eastern Michigan (8-3, 4-1 MAC). While the team saw a 0.600-point improvement since last meet, the Cardinals fell to the Eagles, 195.950-194.225.
Ball State track and field has officially finished the first day of the two-day Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships.

Off the back of a sunny, successful weekend for Ball State’s women’s tennis team, the Cardinals face the Youngstown State Penguins Saturday. Last Sunday saw the team play outdoors at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center for the first time this season in a 7-0 win over IUPUI, but Ball State will be heading back indoors to the Northwest YMCA to play Youngstown State. Head coach Max Norris, though, said the Cardinals should be prepared to deal with uncertainty if they want to win championships. “If you can play in either setting and you can make your mind up that ‘It’s not that big of a difference’, you’re going to put yourself in a good position,” Norris said.
Seven Ball State students and alumni will bring Broadway to Muncie with a performance of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.”
