After enduring a tough stretch that included two losses to Central and Western Michigan University, the Ball State University women's soccer team has responded with two straight Mid-American Conference wins. The latest came in the form of a 1-0 margin Friday afternoon against Northern Illinois University.

Inaugural concert will unveil $1 million organ

The $1 million Sursa Hall concert organ will be unveiled in an inaugural concert Sunday, Oct. 22, at 4 p.m. after one year of construction and eight weeks of installation. The concert will feature Ann Sursa Carney, daughter of the benefactors, David and Mary Jane Sursa and international concert organist James David Christie.

Construction causes parade route to change

Because of construction on Wheeling Avenue, the Homecoming parade route has been modified to accommodate the crowds and participants in the parade, Ben Yoder, Homecoming Steering Committee Parade Chairman, said. This isn't the first year the parade route has changed.

Undefeated: Perfect season brings joy to Muncie after World War II

The 1949 football season stands alone in Ball State University football history. That year, the Cardinals went a perfect 8-0, marking the first year for an undefeated Cardinal football team. "We actually won the last six games of the 1948 season," said Bill King, who was a senior right tackle on the '49 team.

The injuries for the Ball State University football team have been piling up on the defensive side of the ball. Linebacker Bryant Haines, who is fourth on the team in tackles with 41, missed Saturday's game against Central Michigan University after injuring his knee the previous week against the University of Buffalo.

Food burglar chased, caught by BSU students

Juniors Christa Music, Amanda Baltazar and James Nimmer chased after and captured former Ball State University student Arthur Kistner after the women said they saw him taking food from their freezer. Kistner said in the police report that he was hungry because he hadn't eaten in a week.

BSU to dedicate gateway to campus

Ball State University will give thanks to six classes of alumni for their contributions to the construction of the gateway to campus at the corner of McKinley and Bethel avenues in a dedication ceremony at 4 p.m. today. Ball State President Jo Ann Gora and Muncie Mayor Dan Canan will be present for the event, Stephanie Arrington, special assistant to the president's office, said.

Freshmen to stay in jail until Monday

The two Ball State University freshmen football players who were arrested on suspicion of theft could remain in jail until Monday, jail officials said, and may face up to 20 years in prison if convicted. Brandon Houston and Eulas Taylor III have been held at the Delaware County Jail since Friday, when they were arrested on suspicion of stealing laptop computers from the LaFollette Complex.
