The Ball State University men's basketball team lost 62-58 to host Bowling Green State University in Wednesday night's Mid-American Conference action at Anderson Arena. With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 9-9 overall and 4-2 in MAC play, but remain in a tie with Western Michigan University atop the MAC West Division standings.
The Student Recreation and Wellness Facility has moved to the second phase of a two-part renovation process. Jason Adamowicz, associate director of recreation services, said construction is still on schedule to be completed by August of 2010. Phase 2 began by tearing down a large section of Irving Gym's main floor and surrounding office areas.
An unexpected amount of snowfall Wednesday morning caused the Ball State University administration to cancel classes after they already began. Ball State doesn't have an official policy regarding snow days, administrators said, but a system is implemented in case of severe snowfall.
After about 50 years in one location, Michael and Mary Concannon expanded Concannon's Pastry Shop to a second store on Morrison Road on Wednesday. "It's been in the same family for 50 years now," co-owner Mary Concannon said. "You don't see that very much anymore.

Soldiers in Iraq have seen things that many cannot imagine, and Tuesday several veterans came forward to share their stories. The "Eyes Wide Open" exhibit visited Ball State University on Monday and returned Tuesday for a discussion forum at 7 p.m. During the forum, the veterans showed three video clips focusing on the dehumanization of the enemy, sexuality and gender and rules of engagement.

As glistening snow blanketed Ball State University campus Tuesday, the University Singers performed their 45th Annual Cabaret Concert in Sursa Performance Hall. With only two weeks to prepare, the performance was made to illustrate the history of the group and perform about 10 songs to more than 60 students and alumna.

The University of North Dakota women's basketball team leads Ball State University 39-36 at halftime. Leading all scorers is Cardinals' junior forward Danielle Gratton with 17 points and seven rebounds. Gratton is playing for the second straight game wearing a face guard after a suffering a broken nose against Northern Illinois.
Sharing music is no less illegal than a week ago, but Ball State University students no longer need to fear a lengthy, expensive trial. The Recording Industry Association of America now informs file-sharing violators instead of immediately prosecuting. The organization forwards information to Internet Service Provider, who will sanction users.
