GYMNASTICS: Cards prepare for first home meet of season

As open-faced renovation continues on the Irving Gym athletic facilities, the Ball State University gymnastics team is set to play host to Mid-American Conference opponent Central Michigan University at 2 p.m. Sunday at Worthen Arena. Returning 10 starters from a 2008 season in which they placed third in the MAC Championships, the Chippewas, (3-0, 1-0 MAC), purvey what the Cardinals have been accumulating since early January: vocational experience.

Ball State University won Sitecore's Best Site of the Year for North America award, two years after the university re-launched its Web site with the content management system company. The university Web site was recognized among 10 other categories from Best Financial Site to Best Entertainment and Sports Site in the beginning of January.

The Ball State University football team filled another void on its coaching staff Thursday that was created when former head coach Brady Hoke left for San Diego State University. BSU area streets not plowed

The second day of cleaning up 12.8 inches of snow from the Muncie streets went "pretty good", **Ron Ball, Muncie Street Department maintenance supervisor, said. The winter weather caused the Muncie cleanup crews to work from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, mainly concentrating on the primary roads.

A Ball State University football player faces a preliminary felony charge after he reportedly refused to pay for his taxi fare, according to an arrest report from Ball State police. Dane Cook, who was a sophomore free safety on the 2008 Ball State football team, was arrested on the preliminary charges of public intoxication and theft at about 4 a.
