MCOB scholars unite

Ten business scholars have forged close bonds through programs in and out of the classroom during the first year of the Business Scholars and Honors Programs. Twenty-three incoming freshmen were invited to apply for the Business Scholars program last semester and 10 were chosen.

Muncie girl scout troops will receive help selling their girl scout cookies from Kappa Delta sorority Tuesday and Thursday. Members from Kappa Delta will set tables up from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Teacher's College Lobby, the Arts and Communication Building and the Business Building's first floor lounge, Lauren Schneider, Kappa Delta vice president of public relations said.

Tony Farmer wants you to know the truth

Tony Farmer got out of his seat after Robert Kennedy Jr.'s speech Feb. 18 with the intention of asking the famous environmentalist a question. Farmer stood in line and waited his turn. He knew Ball State University President Jo Ann Gora, famous donors and important decision makers were in attendance that night and were closely watching those who questioned the guest speaker.

2 slates under review

The Student Government Association Elections Board is expected to decide today whether to punish two slates for violating the Elections Code. Elections Chair Marco Pretell-Vazquez said Cardinal Collaboration and University Coalition are under review for possible violations involving the use of Ball State University's Gradebook e-mail system.

Ball State University guard Porchia Green was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week on Monday. The 5-foot-9-inch senior guard averaged 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists during last week's games against Eastern Michigan University, a 68-59 win, and Western Michigan University, a 80-61 win.

The Ball State University greek community crowned a new Miss Greek on Saturday for the first time in two years. Sorority cheers were sung, their chirps reverberated off of the walls and supportive signs were waved in the air all in the name of a favorite girl.

Strategic plan being updated for changes

Ball State University's greek community is continuing work on its strategic plan, and hopes it will help to compete with fraternities and sororities at a national level. Only a handful of the 800 colleges and universities with greek communities have invested the necessary resources to create strategic plans for their greek communities, Cara Luyster, assistant director of student life, said in the Greek Community Strategic Plan Progress Report.

Student Government Association Elections Board chair Marco Pretell-Vazquez confirmed early Monday afternoon that the Cardinal Collaboration SGA slate is under review for a possible campaign violation. Late Sunday evening, slate members e-mailed multiple students through Ball State University's Gradebook system.
