WOMEN'S GOLF: Cardinals take motivation from last week into invitational

The Ball State University women's golf team will tee off in Rio Verde, Ariz., today in 20-team field. Northern Arizona University plays host to six Mid-American Conference teams along with three Big Ten teams. The Cardinals played in this same tournament almost exactly a year ago, finishing in a tie for ninth out of 18 teams.

SWIMMING AND DIVING: Lone Cardinal prepares for NCAA Zone Diving Championship

Lewellen Pool was fairly quiet this week except for the occasional splash from the diving well. Lisa Maertin is the only member of the Ball State University swimming and diving team still competing after qualifying for the NCAA Zone Diving Championship. It is the second time the junior diver has qualified for the event.

New Web site to reduce spam

A new Web site and general communication system will be put into effect March 16 in an effort to reduce the number of irrelevant e-mails students receive from Ball State University. University Marketing and Communications has been working for 18 months to conceptualize a three-part system, Tony Proudfoot, associate vice president of marketing and communications, said.

TRACK AND FIELD: Cardinals get last shot to qualify for NCAA Championships

The last grain of sand in the hourglass will fall this weekend for the Ball State University track and field team to qualify for the NCAA provisionals. Before time runs out, the Cardinals will travel to South Bend for the Alex Wilson Invitational for their last attempt to make time requirements for the 2009 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in College Station, Texas.

I'm at a computer working on various projects at least three-fourths of the time I'm awake. Spring Break table raises awareness

Partying, beaches and road trips were common conversation starters Wednesday afternoon as students milled around the Health Education table for Spring Break Safety Week in the Atrium. The Health Education Department wanted to raise awareness about the dangers of alcohol, drugs and unprotected sex while also stressing the importance of partying smart, health education graduate assistant, Jessica Stevens, said.

SOCCER: Team lands 8 recruits for 2009 season

Ball State University soccer coach Michael Lovett announced the signing of eight recruits to national letters of intent Wednesday for the 2009 season. The Cardinals signed midfielder Alyssa Ables from Huntertown; defender/midfielder Maggie Brown from West Chester, Ohio; defender Coco Cammon from New Hope, Minn.
