With their share of big losses, close losses and a few hard fought wins, the fifth-seeded Cardinals host this weekend's Mid-American Conference Tournament, beginning at 11 a.m. today against fourth-seeded Central Michigan University at the BSU Turf Field.

Guy Crowder, vice president and secretary of the organization, said the event is to promote the Ball State chapter of the Golden Key International Honour Society.

Colorado city votes to legalize marijuana

In Breckenridge, 72 percent of voters in early returns voted to make up to 1 ounce of marijuana legal for adults over 21. The measure is largely symbolic — pot possession is still against state law — but supporters said they wanted to send a message to local law enforcement to stop busting small-time pot smokers.

Loretta Lynn concert postponed until February

Loretta Lynn's concert scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday at John R. Emens Auditorium has been postponed. Darcy Wood, associate director of marketing at Emens, said the event will be pushed back until Feb. 19 because the performer is sick.

Sexual health on campus rated better by Trojan

Perceptions of Ball State University's poor sexual health have been challenged by two recent reports, which say Ball State is on par with other universities.Ball State improved its ranking by one spot in the Trojan Sexual Health Report issued on Oct. 27.

Performance honors former music professor

On Aug. 7, Ball State University's School of Music lost a legendary teacher as well as an amazing professor with the death of Fred "Doc" Ehnes. Ehnes had been the professor of horn at Ball State for 38 years. Today, the Musical Arts Quintet will give a performance honoring the life and work of Ehnes.

Today at 4:30 p.m. in the Alumni Center, students will receive a crash course in business dining etiquette. The career center has the event twice each semester for students and is an opportunity for students to prepare themselves for the working world. Willow King Locke, the assistant director of the Career Center, will be the presenter for the evening.

The complete list of schools that participated in the 2008 Trojan Sexual Health Report Card are ranked from numbers 1 to 139. Of all 12 MAC schools surveyed, Ball State University placed highest on the annual report.

SCENE SELECTION: 'This is It' is good look behind the scenes

If there is a genre of films I have not viewed enough, it would definitely be documentary. I have seen enough to know which are good and which are bad, and it helps to have a film class with a music documentary filmmaker this semester. All of the back story aside, I viewed "Michael Jackson's This is It" this past weekend and was blown away.
