Getting to know a Muncie firefighter

Caleb Maddox grew up around fire stations. He’d watch his father, Captain Pat Maddox, and fellow firefighters load up the shiny, red trucks at the Muncie Fire Department. He’d watch them roll up unending hoses and slide down station poles. He’d tag along to community outreach events and help his dad check and install car seats.

OPINION: My Body, NOT My Choice

When my alarm clock goes off in the morning, I am hit with a wave of emotions regarding what it means to be disabled, especially on the mornings when physical aches linger longer than others. Eventually, those complex feelings morph into one: the selfish relief of not being handicapped.

Indiana Capital Chronicle: ‘Truly a game changer’: Indiana ag leaders focus on farm bill impact

“If we aren’t able to come to an agreement on a farm bill, it would be catastrophic for conservation in the state of Indiana, and the entire country, frankly,” Dan Boritt, executive director for the Indiana Wildlife Federation said. “Agriculture is a really, really, really difficult industry to be financially successful in and these dollars allow (farmers) to take those risks, to do good things on the land that benefit all of us.”
