Ball State's Unity Scholarship Pageant crowns Miss Unity 2020

After a night of music, dance and performance, Ball State has a new Miss Unity. A field of seven contestants showcased their talents Jan. 26, 2020, at Pruis Hall. The categories of talent were introduction, a talent performance, a description of a volunteer experience and a brief Q&A segment.

China’s attempts to contain the spread of a viral disease, the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, the U.K.’s preparations for Brexit, the earthquake in Turkey and memories of Kobe Bryant’s upbringing in Italy make up this week’s five international stories.

Kobe Bryant, daughter perish in copter crash, 7 others dead

NBA legend Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter and seven others were killed in a helicopter crash on a remote, steep hillside in Southern California on Sunday, his sudden death at age 41 touching off an outpouring of grief for a star whose celebrity transcended basketball.

Late scoring run by Agustsdottir leads to Ball State conference win

Sophomore forward Thelma Dis Agustsdottir had two points in the game against Miami (Ohio) just over a year ago. One year later, Agustsdottir went 8-for-12 from the field, including making seven of her last eight shots, to lead Ball State with 19 points, her second-highest season total.

Caffeinated Conversation: Resisting the straw
