US prepares tough response for Russia over Ukraine

WASHINGTON (AP) — Western powers on Sunday prepared a tough response to Russia’s military advance into Ukraine and warned that Moscow could face economic penalties, diplomatic isolation and bolstered allied defenses in Europe unless it retreats. The crisis may prove to be a game-changer for President Barack Obama’s national security policy, forcing him to give up his foreign policy shift to Asia and to maintain U.S.


Ball State not worried by IU data breach

Despite the recent Indiana University security breach, Ball State students shouldn’t have to worry about their information falling into the wrong hands. The Associated Press reported that 146,000 IU students’ information was accessible to the public last week. The university said there was no evidence that anyone had seen the student data while it was public.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State sweeps Mount Olive

Ball State beat Mount Olive 25-15, 25-9 and 25-20. The Cardinals held the Trojans to a -.133 attack percentage, just one Trojan hit a positive number. Middle attacker Kevin Owens led the way for Ball State with eight kills on 11 attempts, finishing the night with a .727 attack percentage. Outside attackers Matt Sutherland and Shane Witmer led Ball State in digs with six each, while setter Hiago Garchet paced the team with 15 assists. It was one of Ball State’s most successful nights at the net, collecting 16 total blocks.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Team gets win during final home game

FIRST HALF The senior five of Jesse Berry, Chris Bond, Kindon Crowder, Tyler Koch and Majok Majok were honored before the start of the final home game of the season. Ball State controlled the action early as it built a sizable 11-2 run to open up Senior Day.

BASEBALL: Cardinals drop game against Liberty

For the Ball State baseball team, Game 2 in Lynchburg, Virginia did not fare as well as the first. Facing off against last season’s Big South Champions, the Liberty Flames, the Cardinals needed a good outing from starting pitcher Scott Baker.

Former Indiana pastor, wife facing sex charges

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. — A former central Indiana pastor and his wife face sexual misconduct and several other charges stemming from their alleged involvement with a minor. Forty-three-year-old Jonathan Harness of Morgantown appeared Thursday for an initial hearing in Morgan Superior Court on charges of sexual misconduct with a minor, sexual battery, criminal deviate conduct, neglect and intimidation. The Herald-Times reports that Harness was formerly the pastor of Abundant Life Fellowship church in Morgantown, but the church has been disbanded. Harness’ 44-year-old wife, Buffy Harness, faces charges of sexual misconduct with a minor, criminal deviate conduct, sexual battery and neglect.
