Ellen challenges Ball State's half-court shot winner

When a Ball State freshman made a half court shot for a semester of free tuition, it went so viral it caught the attention of Ellen DeGeneres.  Freshman Lemuel Turner, who made the half court shot, will be a guest on Ellen during its season premiere week.  Judging from a preview video, Ellen put to Turner to the half court shot test, and it looks like he made the shot again.  VIDEO  Props to Turner, but sorry Ellen, that's not very original.

Muncie ranked most affordable college town

Muncie was ranked the most affordable college town by realtor.com last month, and though that may seem like a positive achievement, it could actually be the opposite, according to a university researcher.



The Ball State football team faced Virginia Military Institute on Sept. 3 at Scheumann Stadium.

Ball State attendance eclipses 10,000 in 1st game

For just the third time in the last two seasons, Scheumann Stadium's attendance reached 10 thousand for a home football game. Ball State defeated Virginia Military Institute 48-36 in the season opener in front of 10,473 spectators. Athletic Director Mark Sandy said attendance was about where he expected, but it could have been better.

Students plan Chirpfest music festival

Two Ball State students are bringing a different kind of music festival to Muncie. The city’s first Chirpfest will be a live electronic dance music festival September 19, from 6 p.m. to midnight.
