Jun 6 marked a historic day for college sports after a multibillion-dollar legal settlement was formally approved via House v NCAA, paving the way for college universities to begin paying their athletes directly, according to the Associated Press

The settlement ended three separate federal antitrust lawsuits, all of which claimed the NCAA was illegally limiting the earning power of college athletes.

On June 8, Ball States Director of Athletics Jeff Mitchell released the following statement regarding the ruling to the Ball State Sports social media channels;

"We acknowledge the NCAA settlement in the case as a pivotal step in the evolution of intercollegiate athletics. Ball State University remains fully aligned in its commitment to fostering an environment of opportunity and growth for student-athletes.

We will lead with a collaborative and progressive approach as we navigate the complexities ahead; and we will continue advocating for sustainable models that strengthen the student-athlete experience at Ball State.

Together, we will excel in this new era with purpose, unity and a deep respect for the mission of higher education."
