5 former Cardinals sign undrafted free agent contracts, 2 land minicamp tryouts

Following the conclusion of the 2022 National Football League (NFL) Draft, 262 players were selected and five former Ball State Football players have signed Undrafted Free Agent (UDFA) contracts while two others have received minicamp tryouts. 

Linebacker Christian Albright signed with the Chicago Bears following the draft. In five years in Muncie, Albright played 57 games, recording 260 total tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks, 2 interceptions and 9 forced fumbles. 

Wide receiver Justin Hall, Ball State’s all-time leader in career receptions and receiving yards, signed with the Las Vegas Raiders. In 54 games, Hall caught 318 passes for 3,385 yards and 18 touchdowns while also rushing for 865 yards and 10 touchdowns on 122 attempts.

Safety Bryce Cosby will be joining Hall in Las Vegas. Cosby played in 57 games, registering 392 total tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 10 interceptions and 26 passes defended. 

Offensive lineman Curtis Blackwell earned a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Blackwell played 46 games over his five years in Muncie, primarily at right guard and right tackle.

Joining Blackwell in Tampa Bay is defensive back J.T. Wahee. Wahee played two years at Ball State after transferring from Norfolk State, and chalked up 84 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions and 12 passes defended in 19 games.

While not receiving UDFA contracts, two Cardinals have been offered the chance to earn a spot on an NFL team. 

Quarterback Drew Plitt has landed minicamp tryouts with both the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts. In 46 games, Plitt completed 777 of his 1,246 passes for 9,062 yards, 68 touchdowns and 30 interceptions, while rushing for 423 yards and 14 touchdowns on 322 attempts.

Defensive lineman Chris Agyemang has been offered a minicamp tryout with the New York Giants. Agyemang played two years in Muncie after transferring from Sacred Heart. In 19 games, he recorded 30 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, an assisted sack, an interception and 5 passes defended.

The former Cardinals will look to earn a spot on their organization's 53-man roster.
