According to a press release from the City of Muncie, Prairie Creek Reservoir Beach is closed temporarily due to elevated algae levels. The release said the reservoir has exceeded the Environmental Protection Agency's safe threshold of microcystins, a toxin released by algae.
Starting June 30, the reservoir will undergo algae treatment to address the issue, and updates on water quality are expected as the testing continues.
