Following Ball State beginning to move to online classes, its Counseling Center will begin to make its own changes, according to a email sent out Monday by the center.
Patients will need to reschedule their in-person appointment if any of the following apply to them:
- They are sick with a fever or cough or any sickness-related respiratory issues
- In the past 21 days, they have traveled to or been in close contact with people who have arrived from any of the following countries or regions: China, Iran, South Korea, Europe including United Kingdom and Ireland
- They have been in close contact with anyone known to have COVID-19.
The Counseling Center will be offering face-to-face, 30-minute consolations the week of March 16 unless the university closes its office. Starting the week of March 23, the center will move to telephone or video call consultations, also known as telemental health, according to the email.
All individual appointments scheduled for the week of March 16 have been adjusted to be 30 minutes long. All group appointments scheduled for that week, future group appointments for the semester and individual appointments scheduled for the week of March 23 or later have been canceled.
Those who want an in-person, 30 minute individual consultation should call the Counseling Center to schedule it.
Psychiatric in-person appointments that have been made for the week of March 16 will still be held, according to the press release. Appointments during the week of March 23 and later will be done over the telephone.
Starting March 23, the center will be offering brief, telemental health appointments based on patients' clinical needs. Other online services like WellTrack and the Outreach Workshop videos will remain available to all students and can be accessed from anywhere.
