At the Purdue Invitational, junior Rebecca Herrington, senior Isabelle Dohanics and senior Audrey Berger represented Ball State Women’s Tennis placing in the top three in singles play.

Herrington won the singles championship, defeating Maddox Bandy of Lipscomb in two sets (6-4, 6-2). Dohanics finished third in singles play.

“Herrington and Dohanics both made the finals, but they were in the same bracket, so they obviously didn’t play each other,” Head coach Max Norris said. “I think for the two of them, it’s a testament. For Isabelle, how hard she has been working physically to step in the court a little more. For Rebecca, it’s a testament to how she has worked on mixing things into her game.”

Another Cardinal, who finished in the top three in singles play, was Berger. She went 2-1 over the weekend and defeated Milana Lysova of Miami (OH) in two sets (6-4, 6-1), for third place.

In doubles play, Audrey Berger and Herrington went 3-1. According to Norris, Berger and Herrington are a great paring on the court in the understanding of eachothers play.

“Each of them have immense abilities in their own right," Norris said. "They both can do different things. It’s fun because I started playing them together, and it really helped bring out the best in Rebecca.”

The Cardinals went 15-6 in singles and 5-7 in doubles. The Cardinals will be back in action on Oct. 11 for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ohio Valley Regional in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
