Ball State men’s swim and dive in second place at EMU invitational after day one

Ball State men’s swimming and diving are in second place out of six teams at the Eastern Michigan University Invitational with 249.5 points after day one.

In the 1650 Freestyle, junior Isaac Walling placed fourth out of 15, with a time of 16:20.76. Teammates senior JD Middleton and freshman Jack Luddy placed tenth and 13th.

In the 200 Butterfly, senior Jake Eckert dropped eight seconds (1:54.73) from his seed time (2:02.42). Eckert placed seventh, while teammate senior Tanner Barton placed third with a season best time of 1:51.83.

In the 400 Freestyle Relay, the team of freshman Ben Andrew, junior Banistre Lienhart, Barton, and senior Austin Green placed fourth with a time of 3:08.49.   

On the boards, sophomore Gabe Dean placed eighth with a 177.65 score. Teammates sophomore Lane Sawyer and junior Jeremy Taylor finished in tenth and eleventh.

The team competes in day 2 of the meet tomorrow Saturday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m.
