Just a week and a half after a flash flood warning on June 26, the National Weather Service issued another flash flood warning for several Indiana counties until 8 p.m.

The warning, issued at 2:05 p.m., includes Boone, Delaware, Hamilton, Hendricks, Madison, Marion, Clay, Morgan, Putnam, Montogomery, Tipton and Hancock counties.

The National Weather Service said more than three inches of rain has fallen in some of these areas.

If residents need sand bags, they are available at the Delaware County fairgrounds and Muncie Fire Station #2.

When the flash flood occurred on June 26, Jim Lowe, Ball State director of engineering, construction and operations, said additional staff came out at the university to help prevent flood damage.

“That’s the secret with a flood. When you have water entering the building, if you can react quickly to removing that water, you minimize [or] prevent damage,” Lowe said. “In this case, there was enough staff on hand that we really minimized the damage to the campus.”
