BLOOMINGTON — Researchers from Ball State are studying again this season the deer population in Indiana.
Specifically researchers are hoping to collar fawns so they can track them in future years as they grow as part of an adult deer study. They're enlisting the help of Monroe County residents to alert them when they spot a newborn fawn.
In addition to collaring fawns, researchers have been working to trap a total of 60 adult deer in Bloomington and the surrounding rural areas since the beginning of the year.
The Bloomington Herald Times reports that researchers will be looking for fawns and adult deer through July 31, and then their collaring project will start up again in January.
