Vote makes Multicultural Greek Council associate member of Panhellenic Council

The Multicultural Greek Council became associate members of the Greek Panhellenic Council earlier this evening.

The Panhellenic Council voted it in with a nine to zero vote, with one abstention.

Previously the PHC included 10 on campus sororities. Next year, Gamma Rho Lambda, a lesbian, bisexual, ally, transgender, questioning, straight or non-label sorority, and Gamma Phi Omega, a Latina-oriented sorority, will act as associate members.

Danica Craig, Panhellenic Council's president, said those sororities would not participate in formal recruitment, but would be included in Greek Open House. They would also come to delegation and round tables that pertain to them, and pay the Panhellenic Council’s dues.

When marketing for recruitment, the associate members' GPAs would be calculated separate from those of the Panhellenic Council. Their GPAs will still be counted in the all Greek Life average.
